Sailor Jupiter was the the fourth Sailor Soldier introduced, disregarding Sailor V. Makoto saved Usagi from a passing car when she first appeared, and was a transfer student into Usagi's school. She was thrown out of her old school for fighting. Makoto was bewitched by a posessed Motoki, and when this was revealed to her, she became extremely angry and awoke as a Sailor Soldier. Although Makoto is a strong and bold girl, she is also very kind. Her parents were killed in a plane crash, and she rents an apartment. Makoto is also a superb chef.

Makoto's first big appearance is during a concert with the Three Lights. Sailor Iron Mouse attacked this concert in an attempt to obtain Star Seeds. Sailor Jupiter, along with a group of the Sailor Senshi, met the enigmatic Sailor Starlights. Later in the story, when Usagi was talking on a rooftop with the Sailor Starlights, Sailor Aluminum Seiren appeared, attracted by the aura Seiya emitted. The Sailor Soldiers appeared, however Sailor Aluminum Seiren captured Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Mercury, successfully stealing their Sailor Crystals.

Sailor Jupiter next met Sailor Moon posessed by Sailor Galaxia and her bracelets. Sailor Jupiter, along with the rest of the Sailor Senshi, viciously attack Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon finds the courage to overcome this challenge, and moves on. When she finally destroys Sailor Chaos and enters the Galaxy Cauldron, all of Usagi's friends greet her and congratulate her. Usagi decides to go back to Earth where she is married to Mamoru, each Sailor Senshi being one of her bridesmaids.
