Sailor Mercury was the second Sailor Soldier to appear besides Sailor V. Usagi met Ami when Luna leapt onto her shoulder, as Luna felt something special about Ami that she couldn't determine. Usagi took Ami to a video game arcade, where Ami proved her intelligence with her insanely high score. Making the connection that she could get school help from Ami, Usagi made fast friends with Ami. Luna wasn't sure if Ami's power was goor evil, but during a cram school it was proved that Ami was Sailor Mercury. Ami is a shy girl who boasts an IQ of 300. Her parents are divorced. Her mother is a doctor, and her father in an artisan. Ami excels in all things academic, but falls short in the love department, as she gets horribly embarassed about the subject.
Ami's first major appearance in SailorStars is during a concert when Sailor Iron Mouse attacks, sensing a myriad of star seeds. This signals the first appearance of the Sailor Starlights. Later on, when Usagi is talking to Seiya, Sailor Aluminum Seiren senses Seiya's power and appears. The Sailor Senshi appear to try and stop then, but Sailor Aluminum Seiren kills Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Mercury, stealing their Sailor Crystals.
Usagi's final metting with the Sialor Senshi is when Sailor Galaxia recreates them to do her bidding. The Sailor Senshi attack Usagi, but Usagi finds the strength to defeat them and move on. When Sailor Chaos is defeated and Usagi descends into the Galaxy Cauldron, Usagi meets her friends in their normal forms. Usagi chooses to live on Earth, and everyone follows her. Ami, along with the rest of the Sailor Senshi, become bridesmaids for Usagi and Mamoru's wedding.
