Sailor Pluto was first introduced during the Black Moon arc of the manga. She is the guardian of the Space-Time door, a door which one can use to pass through time. She is destined to guard the door for eternity. Her weapon is the Garnet Rod, which is topped by a magical item called the Garnet Orb. Her personality is calm and serious. She also seemingly omniscient. She has a forbidden attack which can stop time at the cost of her life, called Time Stop. When she is not at the time gate, she works with Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune. Once Sailor Saturn is reborn from the Infinity arc, the three soldiers take care of her.
In the SailorStars manga, Setsuna works at Chibiusa's school as a nurse. When the enemy attacks and the Sailor Senshi are discussing them, Sailor Pluto comments that there is nothing unusual in the Space-Time continum, thus determining that the enemy was an invader from outer space. In Crystal Tokyo, Neo Queen Serenity is discussing a disturbance with Sailor Pluto. Chibiusa overhears and begins to harbor a strong desire to go back to the past so she could help. In the present time, Setsuna, Haruka, and Michiru decide to go to their castles to check on the disturbance. The three arrive at their castles and get into contact. Sailor Pluto meets up with Guardian Pluto and begin to analyze the disturbance, but someone attacks Sailor Pluto from behind, causing her to disappear. It is later revealed that Sailor Galaxia stole her Sailor Crystal.
When Sailor Moon reaches Shadow Galactica, she sees all of the Sailor Senshi there. However, the Sailor Senshi were on Sailor Galaxia's side. All of them viciously attacked Sailor Moon. Sailor Pluto paired up with Sailor Saturn to attack Sailor Moon with Galactica Cannon, then with all the Sailor Senshi for Galactica Planet Attack. Sailor Moon eventually found the strength to destroy the puppets, but the Star Seeds disappeared before she could get to them.
In the end, when Sailor Moon leapt into the cauldron, all of the Sailor Senshi were there to greet her. They thanked her for saving them, and after talking to Guardian Cosmos, were sent back to Earth. Usagi and Mamoru were then married, and each Sailor Senshi served as one of Usagi's bridesmaids.
