Author's Note: I wrote this quite a long time ago. So if I seem a little immature...more than I usually am...that's why.

"Raye, you're so mean, WAAAAAAAH!"
"Shut up, Meatball Brain!"
"Raye, I hate you!"

This is what the purists cringe at whenever watching english Sailormoon. Dubbies think that Rei and Usagi are worst enemies, since Serena and Raye are. But time to tell the truth - they're not! They are BEST FRIENDS and care for each other a lot. Rei and Usagi get into fights, but as told by many episodes, this just brought them closer together. Usagi trusts Rei more than anybody. More examples:

(First season, original episode 43, dub episode 38)
(Original name, 'Usagi Going Alone? The Sailor Senshi's Big Fight' dub name, 'Fractious Friends')
This is the episode where the Sailors turned against Sailor Moon and Moon pretended she wanted to join the enemy, and Sailor Moon is being choked. The Sailors are having a hard time watching, when suddenly Mars produces the Crescent Moon Wand!

ENGLISH DUB: (Not exact, but close)
Jupiter: Raye, where did you get that?
Mars: Well I found it under the bed, and I thought we might need it.

All this implies is Raye STOLE the wand to become leader. However, the Japanese version has a different case scenario.

JAPANESE ORIGINAL: (Not exact, but close)
Jupiter: Rei, why do you hate her so much?
Mars: If I hated her, I wouldn't be trusted with this!

See there? However, since Rei is harsh towards Usagi sometimes, Dic thought "She and Serena must hate each other!" Also, in the Sailor Stars theme song, Rei grasps Usagi's hand before anyone else does, and at the end of the series, she doesn't die in front of the Sailor Starlights, but rather in Usagi's arms. It makes me cringe to see this on sites:

THINGS SAILOR MARS WOULD NEVER SAY:
Sailor Moon is my best friend!

Their friendship is unmatched. Only Haruka and Michiru's relationship rivals Usagi and Rei's. (Of course ^.^ They have a different case scenario. But I'm fine with it, really! It's sweet! But I'm saving that for a different article.)

So dubbies, remember this: Raye and Serena are supposed to be best friends, but they are not. They are originally very close in relationship. They were turned into worst enemies by DiC. Think about that next time you watch Sailormoon.

In closing, don't listen to the dub version. They can stick whatever they want into a character's mouth. The original is how they were meant to be. And Rei and Usagi were originally best friends.
