SAILOR MOON the usual legal junk. This story is the Sailor Stars series from another perspective. What is it like to see things from Oblivion? Enjoy and comments are welcome and encouraged.
Author's Notes-Hi, guys. As we all know, Tuxie is taken out right after facing Nehelina. I would say about Episode 173 or so. One wonders: Where do people go when their Star Seeds are taken? Do they simply vanish from existence or is there an Oblivion or Limbo that they go to to watch what is going on? I decided that Mamoru does go to an Oblivion and is watching all that unfolds. What do you people think? Any thoughts or variations are welcome. This itself is a variation inspired by "The Lotos Eaters" found on FANFICREVOLUTION.ORG under "Bishoujen Soldier Sailor Moon". Read that one as well. (Note: I am using the original Japanese names although I am more used to the dub.) The story is also found at WORLDSHAKING.NET under "Sailor Moon".
A lush green field of flowers.
A clear blue sky.
A gentle warm breeze.
The man stood in the field watching the sky, the sun shining in his midnight-blue eyes. The breeze dancing through his coal-black tresses. How long had he been here? Days? Weeks? Months? Years? The last thing he remembered was saying goodbye to Usako before flying to America to study at Harvard University. It was about several miles from the airport when a golden light filled the plane and immediately time stood still. He was standing on the wing when a gold sphere of light appeared and dissipated to reveal her.
Cold.
Cruel.
Arrogant.
Beautiful.
Galaxia.
"Who are you?"
"I am Galaxia. Ruler of this galaxy."
"Why are you doing this? Why attack innocent people?"
"The galaxy is MINE! I decide how things are treated!"
"The hell you do!"
He transformed into Tuxedo Mask and attacked the golden-armored Amazon, but she was too fast and easily overpowered him. Suddenly, two balls of light attacked him, wracking his body with unimaginable agony. His body felt like someone reached in and ripped his inners to shreds as he felt his Star Seed yanked out of his forehead. Then dark, cold Oblivion began reaching to him with its icy tendrils.
"Your Star Seed is mine! Now this world is mine!"
"No, it isn't."
"What!"
"There are other Sailors of Love and Justice here." A defiant smile. "They will stop you, Galaxia."
Now he was here in this field watching his Usako and her friends go throught their daily lives with school, shopping and other schoolgirl activities. He watched the new transfer students/boy-band The Three Lights. Espcially Seiya who tried to start a more than friendly relationship with Usako, but smiled when she would not let the friendship get any further than platonic. He watched brokenhearted as she would spend day after day writing him letters and sending them.
Letters that would never reach him.
Letters he would never receive.
Letters he would never open.
Letters he would never read.
Letters he would never cherish.
Letters he would never respond to.
He watched Galaxia and her Animates hunt down Star Seeds and, in the process, turn those attacked into Phages. Twisted parodies of Sailor Soldiers corrupted by Galaxia's power. Yet, Sailor Moon was able to save them and return them to normal. He watched Sailor Moon attempt a friendship and alliance with the alien Starlights, only to have them chased off by Sailors Uranus and Neptune. He smiled. Before the lesbian couple trusted no one and refused to work with the Inners. They had their own mission. Ruthless. Machiavellian. They did what it took to get the job done, even if it meant sacrificing others or themselves. Now, they were Usako's fiercest and most loyal Guardians. Yet, they still felt the need to keep their distance from the others. He also smiled at Haruka's not-so-subtle crush and calling the pigtailed blonde Neko-chan.
"Neko-chan. I like that."
His heart went out to the Three Lights who sang every night to their Princess who disappeared the night their planet was destroyed. He smiled at the Inners' crush on the trio and their doing anything possible to score a date with them. His smiled that, despite their efforts, the Animates failed time after time to the point where a frustrated and impatient Galaxia simply eliminated them. Yet, he felt a pang of sympathy as they were merely slaves of the Sailor Warrior, whose Seeds were taken, the bracelets around their wrists, while giving them power, were the only things keeping them from Non-existence. He could not help but smile that there was little in the way of teamwork. That, like the Heart-Stealers, each Animate was concerned with getting herself in Galaxia's good graces and the hell with the others.
"Chibi Chibi?"
Who was this child?
Where did she come from?
Such a warm prescence.
A cute, innocent child flying down from the sky.
Like Chibi-usa, yet different. This one flew with an umbrella and looked to be no more than two or three. Her odangos red hearts and blue eyes that rivalled Usako's in innocence and expressiveness. He watched the Inners balance schoolwork and fighting Phages with playing babysitter to a michievious Chibi Chibi. Yet, there was something different about her. Something special. It was almost as if she was meant to come here. As if she and the Senshi were meant to meet.
His heart skipped a beat as one of the Animates discovered Usako's identity and used a fans' flight with the Starlights to trap her and take her Star Seed. However, the Starlights and Senshi revealed themselves to each other, which drastically changed the relationship. Now, it was more chilly on the part of the aliens as they viewed the Senshi as shallow, selfish girls who cared nothing of the impending doom and that trouble seemed to follow Sailor Moon everywhere. Yet, Seiya told Usako the story and that he needed their help. Seiya was indeed a good friend and he found himself with growing respect for the Starlight. But then--
"I thought I could handle it. I thought I could be strong. But then, I saw the rose! I knew I wanted to see him! I want to see you, MAMO-CHAN! I want to see you!"
His heart broke as he died inside again. The anguish and the misery was eating out Usako's soul, yet she put up a brave front. She put on a pleasant smile. All the while grieving that she could not be with him. Could not hear his voice. Could not talk to him. Could not love him.
"Gomen nasi, Usako. Gomen nasi."
Then the day came. The Starlights had found their Princess and were going to leave to fight Galaxia. They were performing a "farewell concert" when it all went down. Princess Kayuu fought valiantly, but in the end, her Star Seed joined the thousands collected by Galaxia. The group gathered at the temple to discuss how to fight her. The Outers went off and the Inners followed, courtesy of Chibi Chibi teleporting them. There were the Starlights, battered but defiant. The Inners attacked but Galaxia merely swatted the attacks away like so many flies. Then--
Ami.
Makato.
Minako.
Rei.
Their Star Seeds gone. Ripped cruelly from their bodies. One by one they fell, fading like dying stars. Each fading out ripped out a piece of the watcher's heart. Ripped out a piece of Usako's heart. Ripped out a piece of the Starlights' hearts as they wondered why total strangers would sacrifice themselves this way.
"Because this world is important to us."
"Because Usagi and the Starlights are important to us."
Galaxia arrogantly displayed all the Star Seeds she had collected over the vast amount of space. Usako's eyes saw one in particular. A golden one.
"MAMO-CHAN!"
Again, his heart broke as his Usako was crushed seeing her beloved's Star Seed. He had not gone to America. He was dead. He sensed others approaching and turned to look. There they were.
Ami.
Makato.
Minako.
Rei.
Their faces tearful masks. They had failed in their mission. They had failed their Princess. They saw him standing there with a sad smile. He had also fought Galaxia and failed.
"Welcome to Oblivion, ladies." An attempt at levity. "I am Mamoru and I will be your guide."
The attempt failed, so he embraced them consolingly.
"It's all right," he smiles.
"Gomeon nasai, Mamoru-san. We have failed." Makato.
"You did your best."
"No, we didn't." Minako.
"We failed her. We failed our Princess." Ami.
Rei said nothing. She merely sobbed softly as he held her in his arms, wiping away her tears and consoling her. It was up to the Outers to help Serena and the Starlights defeat Galaxia. The Outers attacked, but it was the same results. Galaxia merely overpowered them and was simply toying with them. She could have taken their Seeds anytime she wanted.
"There is another way." A cold smile. "Work for me. Surrender your Star Seeds and pledge loyalty
and I will give you these bracelets to allow you to live."
"Are these bracelets the source of Galaxia's power?" Neptune wondered.
"They are."
"We will never serve you!" Pluto snorted defiantly. "We would rather die!"
"Sounds interesting." Uranus.
"Uranus!"
The Inners and Mamarou gasped in horror. Uranus was not serious! She was not going to sell out to Galaxia! She was. She and Neptune stood and allowed her to take their Star Seeds. There were those damn bracelets! Cowards! Traitors! Had they no pride! Had they no shame! Had they no faith in their Princess! Then the sickening sight of Uranus and Neptune taken Pluto and Saturn's Star Seeds. Their attacking the Starlights and Usako.
"Those BITCHES!"
"How dare they!"
"Cowards! How could they sell out!"
Pluto and Saturn appeared and the Inners embraced them consolingly, furious and nauseated at the turncoat Outer Senshi. Attacking their Princess like mindless puppets. Dogs on the leash of their golden-armored, black-hearted mistress. Wait! They turned their bracelets and fired at Galaxia! THEY FIRED AT GALAXIA! Was all that PLANNED?! Was all that a SETUP?! Were they so calloused, so selfish, so cruel, so heartless, so Machiavellian that they would actually turn on their fellow Senshi and murder them in cold blood just to get to Galaxia and take her Star Seed?!
"She has no Star Seed?!" Shock and disbelief.
"Oh, my." Amused surprise. "This is the first time that my bracelets are unable to control those who
wear them. I enjoy you people of this world."
"We've soiled our hands with the blood of betrayal."
"We failed our Princess. I can see the fires of Hell."
"No. Hell is no place for you."
"I don't care. As long as I am with you."
Usako was crying. Crying for those bitches who tried to kill her. Those bitches who threw away everything a Senshi stood for and murdered their sisters-in-arms, just so they could try and take Galaxia's Star Seed. Hell would have actually been too kind a punishment.
"Uranus. Neptune. Why did you do this?" They aren't worth your tears, Usako.
"It's how we fight."
"Uranus." Not Fighter, too!
"Our Princess is such a little crybaby." A sad, almost prideful smile.
"She is." Neptune also smiled a similiar smile.
"Take care of her."
"Ruka-chan. I want to touch you."
"I see a warm light."
Then, nothing.
"More shines." Usako cried. "More of my important shines are gone. More of my friends are gone."
Uranus and Neptune appeared in the field, greeted with cold stares and an amused, sarcastic smile. Their faces were those of shame. Eyes moist with tears. They had betrayed their fellow Senshi. They had sold their souls and threw away everything sacred to a Senshi. They had murdered their fellow Outers. For nothing. They had gotten Galaxia's confidence and used that to attack her, but she did not have one. Mamoru greeted the new arrivals with slow, sarcastic applause.
"And the Oscar for Best Actress goes to Sailors Uranus and Neptune." Dry sarcasm colored the words.
"Mamoru-san." Neptune whispered.
"At your service."
"Neko-chan was worried about you. Why are you here? When did you get here?" Uranus asked sadly.
"I don't know. I was on my way to America when I meet Galaxia. Next thing I know I'm here watching
people Usako trust turn on her and try to do away with her."
"You could have warned us!" Pluto snarled acidly.
"It was last second." Neptune sighed. "Besides, how were we supposed to know Galaxia did not have a
Star Seed to take?"
"Then you killed us for nothing." Saturn's voice was flat.
Expressionless.
The Inners said nothing, too disgusted for words, and turned back to the sky where they all watched Sailor Moon and the Starlights battle Galaxia, inflicting some damage, but not crippling her. The alien trio poured their bodies, their hearts, their souls and their beliefs into fighting back, earning all the Senshi's respect.
They earned the Outers' respect, especially Uranus, who did not trust them. Yet, it was not enough to defeat Galaxia. Sailor Moon summoned her Crystal Moon power. but The Galactic Warrior nonchalantly deflected the Moon Crystal Staff and destroyed it. Then she grabbed the Crystal Seed and the young Princess fell forward. All the Senshi cried out in agony. Uranus and Neptune burst into tears, sobbing at the demise of their Princess and the failure of their plan to get Galaxia's Seed.
NO!!
Sailor Moon was dead!
Now nothing could stop Galaxia!
Chibi Chibi clasped her hands and a warm wave of pink light appeared and cascaded toward the comatose Moon, lapping its soothing warm against her body, reviving her. Sailor Moon found herself floating.
"A warm gentle light."
"Sailor Moon."
"Who are you?"
"I am The Light of Hope. I was Sailor Galaxia's Star Seed."
The warmth revived Sailor Moon, then the Seed transformed into a Sealing Sword. Galaxia and Sailor Moon then were engrossed in a "duel". More like Galaxia attacked and Usako was trying not to get killed.
"What kind of soldier are you!"
"I don't want to fight!"
"Have you no soldier's pride!"
"If a soldier's pride means hurting each other, then I don't want it. Nothing is gained by fighting."
Then Galaxia shattered the sword, killing Chibi Chibi. Now the Light of Hope was dead. However, Sailor Moon did not give up. She transformed into Sailor Angel Moon, heart crystal shining its love.
"I love this world. I love it because of everyone I meet. Even though I go through hard times, I can make it because I will not give up. Never." (A.N.-cue "Sailor Star Song")
The Senshi and Mamoru watched in amazement and awe as their Princess flew toward Sailor Galaxia, now corrupted into Sailor Chaos, nude and armed with nothing but her Silver Crystal Seed and her love for others. Galaxia/Chaos ripped her full negative power, slowing down but not stopping, the oncoming Messenger/Messiah of Love and Justice.
"If you do not fight, if you throw away your soldier's pride, you are nothing! You may as well surrender
your Star Seed and perish!"
"Never. I believe. I believe in this world. I believe in the people who tried to protect it. I believe in the
small glimmer of hope in your heart."
Somewhere a woman standing in a field of flowers stood, tears running down her cheeks. Her ankle- length hair orange, yellow and red, Golden eyes rested in gentle, sad features. Suddenly, she heard a gentle voice.
"I believe in the small hope left in your heart."
Sailor Moon believed in HER?! She who was corrupted when sealing away Chaos all those millenia ago to stop the Sailor Wars that ripped the galaxies apart? She who destroyed worlds and stole Star Seeds?! A warm glow blossomed in her heart as a tearful smile spread across her face. The surrounding flowers opened, revealing all the Star Seeds taken. The Seeds rose from their lovely prisons, liberated and soon to be returned to their rightful owners and homes. Galaxia/Chaos prepared to fire her final blast, but her sword exploded.
"I see you, Sailor Moon. I love this world, too."
Sailor Moon flew up and clasped Galaxia's hand in a gentle, firm grip. Chaos ripped from the Warrior's body and shot through the sky, defeated and driven away. Galaxia stood nude before Sailor Moon. Her angelic beauty uncorrupted by armor or Chaos. Beauty weighed down with a heavy conscious. Millions of Star Seed hovered around them. Seeds she took. People she killed mercilessly and without a second thought. Tearfully, she knelt before a confused Moon Princess.
"Domo arigato, Sailor Moon-sama," She sobbed happily.
"Chaos is gone," Sailor Moon smiled, lifting Galaxia to her feet.
"Where?"
"Back in people's minds where he belongs." Sailor Moon embraced Galaxia, wiping away her tears.
"What I did was unforgivable. Unrepairable."
"Sailor Moon." A soft musical voice interrupted.
The four Animates appeared. Free from Galaxia's influence. Free from Chaos' influence. They were like Galaxia. Nude. Pure. Uncorrupted. Beautiful. Smiling, they bowed respectfully.
"We are free." Tin Nyanko. "Domo arigato azimou."
"Arigato, Moon Ohime-sama." Lead Crow.
"Thank you, Sailor Moon." Iron Mouse.
"Forgive our actions." Aluminum Siren.
Galaxia knelt before her former minions, eyes lowered for she felt she did not deserve to look them in the face after all she did to them. Siren smiled sympathetically.
"Gomen nasai, minna," The Warrior whispered. "I have treated you cruelly. I destroyed your worlds. I enslaved you and forced you to do my bidding. I abused you horribly. Please let me help you four rebuild your worlds."
Siren, the gentlest soul of the ex-slaves, embraced her warmly as the other three smiled cooly. As they huddled to discuss it, Sailor Moon turned away sadly and walked toward the Starlights who watched everything develop with awe and disbelief.
The Senshi and Mamoru saw Chibi Chibi appear, surrounded by a warm pink light. She came to take them back to Sailor Moon. Guilty tears ran down Uranus and Neptune's cheeks. They were going back to their Princess. They were going back to the sweet, pure, innocent girl they betrayed and tried to kill. Chibi Chibi floated into Mamoru's arms as the light enveloped all the Senshi and transported them out of Oblivion.
"I did it, minna. I hung in there. But I am so lonely by myself. I'm not that strong. I'm lonely, minna." "You are not alone."
Ami-chan?! Sailor Moon was suddenly surrounded by Star Seeds, then her friends! Her fellow Senshi! Mercury's eyes watered as she embraced her Princess and her friend warmly.
"You are not alone, Usagi-chan."
"Everyone is near you," Mars smiled, stroking her friend's hair. "We are all with you."
"Rei-chan. Ami-chan."
Jupiter embraced her Princess warmly as Venus rubbed her back soothingly, their eyes wet with tears.
"We believed in you, Usagi-chan."
"We believed that you could do it."
"Minako-chan. Makoto-chan. This isn't a dream, is it?"
Saturn hugged Sailor Moon tightly as Pluto kissed her forhead maternally and stroked her cheek.
"Thank you, Usagi-chan. We knew you could do it."
"You did very well, Usagi. We are all proud of you."
"Hotaru-chan. Setsuna-san. I am so happy to see all of you."
Uranus and Neptune approached Sailor Moon and knelt before her, tearful eyes lowered to the ground. They were cowards. They took the easy way out and sacrificed their souls and their fellow Senshi just so they could attack Galaxia and try to take her Star Seed. They had faith in their Princess, but they did not have faith in the Starlights. They betrayed their Princess' faith in them and their own faith in themselves.
"Haruka-san. Michiru-san."
"Gomen nasai, Ohime-sama," Neptune whispered, almost a sob. "I failed in my duty as a Senshi."
"We both did," Uranus concurred. "We threw away our pride. Our beliefs. Our duty. We betrayed you
and sacrificed Pluto and Saturn for nothing. Please forgive us, Ohime-sama."
"You did what you thought you had to," Sailor Moon smiled as she lifted both Senshi to their feet.
"No, Princess. We soiled our hands with the blood of betrayal."
"It's all right, Haruka-san. You did your part in this. I forgive both you and Michiru-san."
"Arigato, Princess."
"Please. 'Neko-chan' would be fine."
"Arigato, Neko-chan. To answer your question, this is not a dream. You did save this world."
"Yes." Neptune smiled as she and Uranus embraced their Princess. "You saved it with your trusting heart."
"Usako."
That voice!
That beautiful voice!
That warm, rich baritone that she never thought she would hear again!
Sailor Moon turned and THERE! HE!! WAS!!! That warm smiling face! Those beautiful eyes!
"MAMO-CHAN!!!"
"This little one guided me here to you."
"Chibi?" Chibi Chibi smiled from Mamoru's arms.
She hurled herself into a happy Mamoru, almost crushing Chibi Chibi against his chest, holding him tightly as she sobbed joyfully, happy tears of relief and love flowing unabated down her cheeks.
"It's over, Usako. You did it."
All smiled warmly at the touching reunion. Star Fighter smiled sadly as his "Odango" was no longer his to persue, but happy that she found her love. Galaxia's heart ached with remorse of taking Sailor Moon's love from her, but happy that she was forgiven and that the two lovers were reunited.
"Gomen nasai, Chiba-sama," She addressed Mamoru. "I took you from your love and I am truly
sorry for the anguish I caused both of you."
"It was not your fault," Mamoru smiled. "You were under Chaos' influence."
"Thank you."
"Please guide the Stars back to their worlds," Sailor Moon smiled.
"Arigato, Sailor Moon."
Galaxia and the Animates embraced each Senshi before they flew back to their worlds, the millions of Star Seeds following them and living a gorgeous light display in the sky. The Starlights smiled. Their mission was finished. They had defeated Galaxia and helped Sailor Moon get her friends and her love back.
"Everyone has returned home I see."
The stunned trio spun around to see a stray Star Seed appear then a lovely woman with flowing red her and a cheongsam-like outfit. Her lovely face set in a gentle, knowing smile. Tears of joy ran down each Starlight's face.
"Princess!" Fighter.
"How wonderful!" Healer.
"It's a miracle." Maker.
"Yes, it is." Kayuu smiled at the nude Princess in the arms of her love and her friends.
It was indeed a miracle. The world was saved yet again. The universe was saved. Galaxia had been saved and redeemed. Sailor Moon had her love again. She had her friends again. She smiled at her new friends from beyond the Solar System who helped her get through the darkest hour by putting their trust and their faith in her and it had paid off. All was indeed well.
THE END
Done. Sorry about the teardrops on the screen, guys, but I saw Stars episode 200 again last night and it never fails to get me right here. (taps chest) Anyway, I thought I would see what it was like seeing the season from the viewpoint of someone who has been relegated to Spectator (i.e. Tux) and I like to think that I did it for the most part.
As you can tell, I also changed one or two things. It is emotional to suddenly see those you love who were ripped away from you suddenly appear so I tried to show it via the affection-hugs. Hope it didn't come off as cheesy. I also decided that, although it is a fantasy and everything is cool at the end, it was more realistic that the other Senshi would have issues with Uranus and Neptune's Machiavellianism to the point where they sold their souls and betrayed and murdered their fellow Sailors.
Anyhoo, hope we like it and comments are welcome and encouraged. (so are telephone numbers, but that's another matter. Kidding-;) ). Peace out and let's hear from everyone, all right?
